Some call it an art form. We call it a pour-play. Nitro stout isn’t tricky—it just asks for a little patience (yeah, we know, that part’s tough—but you’ve got this).

Follow these steps, trust the process, and let the creamy magic happen.

How to pour the perfect nitro stout pint:

  1. Begin with a clean, polished, pint glass (ideally a MB one). It is easier to get a perfect head on a pint glass, and who wants a pot of Black anyway?
  2. Hold the pint glass at a 45-degree angle.
  3. Open the tap fully, and pour the beer until the glass is about 3/4 full.
  4. Set the pint down, and allow the beer to settle (circa 90 seconds). This allows a beautiful creamy head to form (note: use your discretion here, you’ll know when it has settled properly).
  5. Now is the time when you can choose to take payment in the form of money, (or clams, or fun tickets) for the delicious beverages you are about to provide the punter.
  6. Finally, top off the glass with a slower pour, aiming for a slight dome shape on top, ensuring the head is proud of the rim.
